Know Your Growing Season
Pay attention to "days to maturity" when selecting vegetable varieties. Cool-season crops like peas and spinach can be started in early spring, while heat-loving plants like tomatoes and peppers need warm soil after all danger of frost has passed.
Companion Planting
Certain plants benefit each other when grown together. Plant basil near tomatoes to improve flavor and repel pests. Marigolds deter many garden pests when planted throughout the garden. Herbs like dill and cilantro attract beneficial insects.
Succession Planting
